What we collect
When you contact us by form, phone, email or our online assistant, we collect the details you give us: your name and contact details, the patient's name, age, location and relationship to you, and a description of the dental problem. When we treat a patient we also collect medical history, medication details, clinical notes, intra-oral scans and consent records, as required by the Dental Council of Ireland.
Why we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and arrange a visit (legal basis: taking steps prior to a contract, and our legitimate interest in running the service).
- To provide dental treatment and keep the clinical records we are legally required to keep (legal basis: provision of health care, Article 9(2)(h) GDPR).
- To check Medical Card (DTSS) or PRSI eligibility with the HSE or Department of Social Protection, with your consent.
- To send appointment reminders and follow-up information.
Who we share it with
Our dentists and administrative staff; the patient's nursing home or carer where they are involved in arranging care; the HSE or DSP for scheme eligibility; our secure email, website hosting and practice management providers, who process data on our instructions; and, if you choose a payment plan, Humm. We do not sell personal data.
Online assistant
The chat assistant on this site ("Elena") is provided by Fiacail, an Irish company. Conversations are stored so our team can follow up, and are treated as enquiries under this policy.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation to understand how the site is used. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them. Essential cookies needed for the site to work are always on.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't lead to treatment: 12 months. Clinical records: at least 8 years after the last treatment, or longer where required for minors, in line with Dental Council guidance.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent where consent is the basis. Email info@dentist2u.ie. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission, Dublin 2, dataprotection.ie.
